Notch posted on /v/, it was a favorite game for 4chan back in alpha. Its booming popularity scaled directly with 4chan users' contempt for the game. Now every time there's a minecraft thread some sad contrarian shills Vintage Story. (it used to be minetest, but nobody even pretends that's worth bothering with now)/v/ has always been like this to some extent but it got really bad after 2016 or so. If you look at the 4chan fanbases for older games that got popular before then, they don't really care much. Which is probably why /jp/ doesn't mind, they're mostly old elona players. /v/'s motto used to be "stop liking what I don't like", now it's "stop liking what I like".
