Not sure how many times I've shared this story on 4chan by now. Didn't have the GPA, means or money and was too uninformed about loans, debt, and that ROTC even existed, so I enlisted instead. A big 10 year gap from HS to starting college but clearances and GI bill paid off, this year I finally started math grad school at a T10. High school GPA was 2.2, inflated due to honors courses. Near bottom of my class somehow. Attribute some of that to bullshit grading. Somehow I was given a C in computer keyboarding early in highschool, even though I was the highest scoring student and could type 100WPM then.
