Google is introducing a controversial new feature in its Chrome browser that will silently remove certain downloaded files judged to contain misinformation or propaganda after a set period, the company has confirmed.The system, currently being rolled out to a limited number of users in selected regions, analyses download patterns and browsing behaviour. Files identified as potentially harmful misinformation could be deleted automatically after a few hours or days after they are saved, without requiring user confirmation.Google said the feature is designed “to protect users from the rapid spread of false and misleading content” and that the timing of the deletion is deliberately delayed so that legitimate research or temporary access is not immediately disrupted.A company spokesperson told the BBC: “We have developed sophisticated models that look at how, when and in what context a file is downloaded. If our systems determine a high likelihood that the material is being used to spread misinformation or coordinated propaganda, Chrome will remove the local copy after a period.”

Not sure if /pol/ knows about this guy, but apparently he has decades of experience in the oil industry and has written a few best selling books on it. And he says that China is fucked, they buy 80% of their oil from the middle east and are on the verge of running out completely and their economy collapsing within weeks. He also says that all the oil infrastructure in the entire region is fucked, so even in the strait was open starting today, oil output will not recover for years. So china is even more doubly fucked

I tried twitter. Followed some account of things I enjoy, people related to those things. Most people don't post enough to stay routinely entertained. I tried posting as well, but I'm a dull person who doesn't make anything, so I was mostly just commenting on other people's creativity and never had much to say. Not that having anything of substance to say would matter; Without followers, you're just talking into a void.If I drew things or made music or something, I could see how being on twitter would be more engaging but as a dullard, I wasn't satisfied.
