I took a 6 month break between June and December of 2020 because I switched ISPs and the new IP address I got was permabanned for some reason. Eventually, I bought a pass and used that for a couple of years, and then one day I forgot to renew it and accidentally discovered my IP had been unbanned.

That is, by far, the longest break I have taken from 4chan in 15 years. Other than that one time, I don't think I've been away from this site for longer than a month.

Its a consequence of the general fact that 4chan, as a site, is dying. /tg/ is actually more active than the vast majority of the boards on the site now, but its still lacking a critical mass of users needed to really keep discussion alive, and the people that *are* still here are largely the same people that have been here for a decade or more, so there is very little new to discuss.

Boards like /a/ manage to keep themselves alive because they have a neverending stream of new content to talk about, but boards like /tg/ really only have the same handful of games and franchises now as we did in 2009 and then in 2019. Assuming we are still here, the average thread on /tg/ will *still* be about 40k, dnd, and MTG when we hit 2029.

This is a battlefield thread and I'm commited, so I will say this here as well.

Portal works as a server browser and official matchmaking servers should never be visible in a browser for bad actors to pick and choose how they can fuck with the casual playerbase.
You complain that you can't form a community etc, so why would you watch to join [OFFICIAL] DICE # 1350-981-50812 CONQUEST instead of something like [AoD] CONQUEST WE SUCK DICKS HERE?
Another thing is you just expect a server existing to magically create a community? All these full servers you used to join in 1942/2/2142/V/1/etc put in hard work to form the community they had. They link to websites, discords, forums, they have a set time when most of the regulars play.
All the old people that ran those communities left slowly but surely over the death of the franchise, I bet the largest exodus was BC2 and BF3/4 because they saw the battlefield that was actually good was never coming back.
So now is your time, get off your ass, start posting on reddit and 4chan about the new discord you're starting up or forum or whatever. Talk to the people that join and figure out what sort of settings the majority can agree on.
Also dice should never make it so a matchmaking queue can put you into a community server, that's the dumbest shit I've ever read.

TLDR get off your ass and curate your own community instead of complaining that there is no community when none of you even put forth the effort. Or just fucking kill yourselves so maybe battlefield can go back to being a good game.
