This. 4chan has been Ship of Theseus'd so many times it is not even remotely comparable to how it was fifteen years ago, or even five years ago. How many people in this very thread remember the memes of yesteryear? Who among us remember EFG, or what to do when they see a lion, or walking the dinosaur? And christ, those are just some of the most well-known memes, there were board specific jokes that even I can't remember, and I've been here since 2007. The fact that 4chan has survived this long, despite migrations and outages and just general retardation from outside sources swarming in and shitting up the culture is downright impressive, but we are quickly getting to a point where 4chan just doesn't belong anymore. When that happens, the rot will fully take hold, and we will continue to peter out until the very last bot sings the death knell of 4chan with one last tired posting of "brown", the final gasp of the internet hate machine, now rendered utterly obsolete.

america is difficult to get pertinent info out of number plates imo vs other countries. unless you have access to a police/law enforcement database in which you would be a complete idiot to risk your job to threaten strangers on 4chan. its probably why no one really edits them out car photos taken in america if you notice while japs/euros autistically edit them out

iirc there was some kind a troll operation going on over 4chan about 10 years ago during an election that claimed to teach supporters of a political candidate how to make "glow sticks" celebrating their candidate's campaign, but instead it was giving them chemistry instructions for poisoning themselves with toxic gas.

Good reminder that 4chan can be a pretty dangerous and deadly place if you take anything you see here at face value.

i loved that one tripfag who would post on here with the name 4chan: A Place for Friends and try to get everyone to join his skype groups. he was always so positive as was christfag, whom i had to respect given the nihilistic smug atheism of the original board before it ported its culture over to reddit. no matter how nasty everyone was to him (including me) he was nothing but nice. it was a nice break. the only real female named user i can remember from that period was called cyan, and she posted the :3 and :3c faces you're doing and lived in i think daytona? because she talked about it a few times. unfortunately i stopped using skype in about mid 2010 and literally forgot who was who in the friend list before the platform depreciated. had a jumpscare not too long ago finding some rebuilt version of skype and it listing a few names that suddenly clicked with whom they had been.

i don't think it would have been as big in 2014 but for a spell /r9k/ loved transformice, this french-language mouse-themed puzzle platformer. there were a ton of threads for users to join chats and meet people. we had a great time in there. very vivid memories of playing that and robot unicorn attack on vacation with a laptop overheating my thighs while reading pictures for sad children and xkcd which were two of the most commonly posted webcomics. seriously pfsc's little ghosts were EVERYWHERE. unfortunately the people in there started killing themselves and /r9k/, along with seemingly the rest of the wider internet and especially 4chan, started its rapid descent into destabilization and polarization. what a shame. this was one of the best places on the internet during its silver age. i miss it dearly.
