I come back to this line of thinking frequently and wonder what can even be done about it. It's a retarded meme at this point but 1984 basically predicted everything, down to "big brother" not even needing to kill or even necessarily crack down on all dissident speech, with a large portion of it itself being a controlled outlet by the government (I proclaim on 4chan.org lmao). They know they are in control and they're probably only years away from solidifying it with technology forever (or blowing up everything), so what's left? Unironically you just don't get the game. If you think hunting big enemies is a slog my guess is you wouldn't like monster hunter either, which is kinda the reason why DD is enjoyable. Also the whole thing about climbing monsters and taking long times to kill them is part of the enjoyment; it's that feeling of actually taking down a fuckhuge creature through pure determination.

You are unironically retarded if you your pawn is worthless in combat. You either do not understand the game's way of combat and never bothered working on your companion, or your companion is worthless because you yourself are shit at the game since main companions are coded to actually learn and mimic your actions during combat. Everything from spamming jump attacks to looting mid-battle, renting and observing one's pawn can tell you something about the owner.

Yeah, that's fair. The first game is worse than the second, not like it means much since it's still easy to get exponentially powerful in both. At least the sequel fixed the healing issue by adding max HP reduction from taking damage over time.
