It's not like there's a big list of compassionate ways to kill human beings, but drone warfare is especially terrible. We've known that one of the worst aspects of war is the psychological toll it leaves on survivors, or even just witnesses to war. I felt sick the first time I saw a gif on 4chan of a soldier being executed. I learned that it was a russian soldier being killed by a chechen, and I felt sorry for both of them, despite not knowing who these people were or why they were even fighting.

Now, I see that worse than when war leaves a psychological toll is when it doesn't. You see videos on fucking youtube, not even age restricted until they hit a 500k views, of "epic montage drones DEVASTATING russo-fascists 720p kills only" or "Ukraine traitors cut in half by new Russian super drone (#12 will AMAZE you)", like it's a Call of Duty noscope video or the slop influences put out in an hour when they catch whiff of a trend. People in the comments are celebrating not just their country or their side winning battles or winning the war; they're watching these videos and celebrating the death of individual men, and relishing the fear on their face and the desperation of their final, futile struggle to live. It's inhumane.

I think this is what people used to think about snipers in war; they kill people so far away that they risk virtually nothing and can't even see the face of the person they're killing, allowing them to distance themselves from the act of killing and letting them take lives without really feeling what they've done. Now, with the advent of modern technology, we've all become the sniper; watching death like we're right on the battlefield, but risking nothing, and letting it turn us into something that delights in death rather than abhors it.

And, as evidenced by this thread, you get commenters from across the globe rushing to call you a retard for not liking drone warfare. I understand the necessity, I just hate what its done to us.
