One of the prime examples of a trope that has aged out is one of the key drivers of the plot of the story. This guy "introduces" himself by using a ploy to get the cop from giving Kiki a ticket. When Kiki told him off I got mad when I first saw that as a kid, but I had just recently rewatched this and honestly that's what most women would do IRL. "Oh I didn't ask you to help me so why did you do it".I also noticed how persistent this guy was. He tried hitting on her while riding in the back of his friend's ride, and even went to where she worked to ask her out on a date (which is seen as really bad to do nowadays). Then he gets stood up and he STILL keeps trying to get with her. It's just amazing to me how this jestermaxing was seen as endearing and cute, but honestly looking at it with a mature lens, it is basically harassment. He basically wore her down until she agreed to go on a date with him on his flying bike.Contrast that with Kiki's cat, who just found someone and they mutually decided to be together right when they saw each other.

How should I deal with these really annoying girls at my college who are obsessed with gender and gender roles? And what I mean by that is that they'll constantly preach about how women should be allowed to buzz their heads bald, proudly grow out their facial hair, grow out their unibrows, not shave a single hair on their body, have extremely hairy arms and legs, wear baggy cargo shorts from the men's section, fart and burp proudly, and if as a man you're not attracted to that you're quote on quote "a sexist pig who is not attracted to real authentic women."
